Responsibilities

As a Customs Specialist, Entry Writer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with local customs authority and other relevant government agencies for inbound shipments. Your key duties will involve offering exceptional customer service and resolving issues to facilitate timely customs clearance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process customs entries and related government agency interactions.
  • Meet client SOP service level requirements.
  • Prepare and submit entries according to client SOP, product service level, or country/government agency requirements.
  • Prioritize tasks based on factors like ETA, product service level, workflow processes, and transportation mode.
  • Classify entries as per client SOP, Parts Database, or guidance from a licensed customs broker/classification specialist.
  • Enter necessary shipment and customs data into the brokerage system.
  • Proactively engage with government agencies and customs authorities to resolve issues.

Qualifications (Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required)

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and skilled in managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with various government agencies (e.g., FDA, FCC, USDA, FWS).
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations.

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience as an entry writer.
  • License as a Customs Broker is preferred but not required.
