Job Summary:

As a Customs Entry Writer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and compliant importation of goods for our clients. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting customs documentation, as well as communicating with relevant government agencies to facilitate the timely release of shipments. Your attention to detail, knowledge of customs regulations, and ability to navigate complex compliance procedures will be crucial to the success of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customs Documentation: Prepare and submit accurate customs entries for import shipments, including classification, valuation, and entry summaries.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other relevant government agencies, such as FDA, EPA, and USDA.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with clients to obtain required documentation and information, ensuring a clear understanding of their import requirements.
  • Tariff Classification: Properly classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) and other applicable tariff schedules.
  • Valuation: Calculate and verify the valuation of imported goods, including duties, taxes, and fees.
  • Entry Review: Review customs entries for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations before submission.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all customs documentation and correspondence.
  • Government Liaison: Interface with U.S. Customs and other government agencies as needed to resolve issues, respond to inquiries, and facilitate the release of shipments.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on changes in customs regulations, tariff updates, and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Proficiency in customs entry software and systems.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Prior experience in a similar role within the freight forwarding industry is a plus.
